Teach2000 for Mac OS X

Do you own a MacBook or another Apple computer? And is the processor Intel based? Than we have good news, because you can install Teach2000 on your computer.

Darwine is an extra layer that makes an application think it is running on Windows, while behind the curtains Mac OS X is running. Teach2000 can be fooled this way!

In order to start Teach2000 on your Mac you have to do the following:
  1. Download Darwine from www.kronenberg.org/darwine/. Select the 'unstable' release. We tested 'Darwine-x86-1.1.18.dmg', but newer versions should work too.
  2. Install Darwine like every other application. Click on the downloaded DMG file and put Darwine and Trix in the application folder.
  3. MSXML3 must be installed in order to open and save Teach2000 documents. Start Trix and install 'Microsoft XML version 3' with it. Installation can take a while because the MSXML installer must be downloaded.
  4. You can install the Windows core fonts with Trix too. Select in Trix MS Arial, Courier and Times fonts and install them.
  5. Download the latest version of Teach2000 from www.teach2000.org.
  6. Click on teach840.exe (or a newer version), the file you just downloaded and install Teach2000.
  7. Finished! The shortcut to start Teach2000 is placed on your desktop or Teach2000 can be started with a terminal with this command:
    wine 'C:\Program Files\Teach2000\Teach2000.exe'
Now you can start with your homework :-)
